Overall Winner :: Casey Brown Architecture :: Bungan Beach House

The top prize in the 2004 Australian Timber Design Awards went to Casey Brown Architecture for Bungan Beach House. This beautifully situated house consists of a series of pavilions around a sun-drenched courtyard. It features large open timber decks, simple mono pitch roofs and a warm pallette of internal timbers. Judges were particularly impressed by the manner in which timber was made integral to this context-sensitive design.

2004 saw the Awards really start to gain traction in the design community. The size and diversity of the entry field made judging a difficult but rewarding task. Judges remarked favourably, in particular, on the attention given by entrants to environmental commitment.
