This project aimed to update the traditional Aussie bush outhouse. The clients have a passion for the outdoors and a great appreciation for timber and woodwork. Having recently purchased a bush property, they wanted to build an outhouse that was comfortable and also was rooted in its environment, both aesthetically and culturally.
Solid timber was used for all building elements except the roof. All timber used was recycled or was considered 'waste' by the manufacturer as it was either too short in length or too rough in character for the interior work they usually manufacture. Spotted gum and ironbark were chosen due to their durability and because these timbers are found on the property.
